Eurojackpot is a European multinational lottery game in which participants have the chance to win huge cash prizes by correctly predicting a series of numbers in two different pools. First launched in 2012, the game offers an alternative to other popular European lotteries such as EuroMillions.

Buy Tickets: Players can buy Eurojackpot tickets online from authorized dealers in participating countries or through the official website. Participating countries vary, but are usually numerous European countries.

The succesful road of Eurojackpot

Some lotteries are already decades old, but Eurojackpot isn’t one of them. It was established as a competitor to EuroMillions in 2006. EuroMillions is popular among many European countries, including the United Kingdom, but it now has to share its place with Eurojackpot. Interestingly enough, it took a couple of years before the first Eurojackpot draw took place.

First countries needed to become a member. Eventually the lottery had six participating countries in 2011, which led to the first draw in March 2012. It became a success immediately, which led to more member countries. The addition of new countries is good news for Eurojackpot. It means that it now has a potential player reach of 270 million people, which is more than the 217 million of EuroMillions!

How to claim your Eurojackpot winnings?

There are two ways to claim your winnings. The first option is an annual payment, which means that you get a sum of money every year. The second possibility is to receive the complete amount of money on your bank account. Some winners choose this option because they can immediately buy something very expensive, like a boat. With an annual payment you might have to wait for a while. With both options you should be aware of the tax system of your country. Not very European country uses the same taxes, so look into this. For example, in Spain you have to pay 20 percent tax over a prize worth at least 2500 euros.
